A Swiss Type CNC Lathe, often simply called a "Swiss machine," is a highly precise and specialized type of computer numerically controlled (CNC) turning machine. Unlike traditional CNC lathes where the workpiece is held stationary and the tool moves to cut, a Swiss machine works by moving the material (workpiece) back and forth along the Z-axis past a stationary cutting tool.
